Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Posted by Crystal Booker on June 30, 2010

Twilight fans will be very pleased. It was definitely worth the wait!!!!!!!! It’s Vampirlicious!!! This movie takes up where “New Moon” left off. The entire original cast with the exception of Brice Howard who takes over the role of the Vengeful Vampire Victoria, who was originally played by Rachel Lafavre has returned to reprise their roles. Kristen Stuart returns as Bella, Robert Pattinson returns as Edward Cullen and Taylor Lautner returns as Jacob Black.  The action is awesome! The special effects are spectacular! Once again Bella is the target and she needs protection. Bella is lucky because she now has two protectors, Edward, who is a Vampire and Jacob, who is a Werewolf. Bella is caught in the middle of this love triangle.

She loved Edward who has had her heart since the first “Twilight”, but she also loves Jacob who has stolen her heart since “New Moon”. She knows she must make a choice. Mean while Victoria is lurking about plotting her revenge on Edward and Bella. She wants to kill Bella to make Edward suffer her loss. Edward is not about to let that happen. She knows that Edward along with his family The Cullens will protect Bella at all cost.

Victoria decides it will take an army to defeat the Cullens, so she builds an army of new born Vampires. She spends years turning humans into Vampires until she has the numbers she feels she needs to defeat The Cullens. These new borns are blood thirsty and ruthless. The Cullens prepare for their arrival by teaming up with the Werewolves to fight them. Edward and Jacob are forced to join forces to protect Bella. The scene where Jacob warms up Bella in a sleeping bag is very hot. I really liked this movie! It even tells the story of how members of the Cullen family became Vampires. I am giving it 5 out of 5 popcorn bags.

Knight and Day Movie Review

Posted by Crystal Booker on June 23, 2010

This movie is Knightarrific! Tom Cruise looks good in this movie. Not only is his acting well done but his body is amazing. There is a scene in the film where he takes off his shirt. When the shirt comes off the heat turns up because he is hot! Cameron Diaz did a good job as well. The chemistry between the two is very strong. They work well together.  Viola Davis also gives a good performance as Director George of the CIA. She is such a phenomenal actress.  As in classic Tom Cruise fashion his character Roy Miller must save the day. He has his work cut out for him with the whole CIA on is tail ready to kill him at any moment. The battery of the future is a hot commodity and everyone wants it. Roy must protect it and keep it safe. The world would be in extreme danger if it were to fall into the wrong hands.

This battery has the power to power a whole city and never has to be recharged! Cameron Diaz plays June Havens, who is traveling home for her sister’s wedding. She meets Roy at the airport and that chance meeting will turn her world upside down and change her life forever. This unexpected adventure will take her around the world and back again. The action in this film is intense and the stunts will have you hanging on the edge of your seat! The scene where Tom Cruise is hanging on the front of a moving car is intense. The bullets are flying and he ducks and dodges each one.

This movie is a thrill ride from beginning to end. It also has some very funny moments, like the scene where Tom drugs Cameron and she wakes up in a variety of different places. I am giving it 4 out of five popcorn bags.

Please Give Movie Review

Posted by Crystal Booker on June 18, 2010

This movie is not a dark humor film, but more of a dim humor film. Under the direction of Nicole Holefcener all the actors give good performances. Oliver Platt and Kathleen Keener play Alex and Kate, who is a couple with their own furniture business where they purchase their furniture pieces from the children of deceased people. They are very successful, but Kate feels guilty for having money and she gives money to the homeless. She wants so much to be able to give back and help them all that she can.  Kate’s guilt is driving her and those around her absolutely crazy.

She starts to question if she and Alex are doing the right thing. She begins to imagine the furniture is haunted by the spirit of its former owners. Alex however is going through his own mid-life crisis. He finds himself attracted to a younger woman, Mary played by Amanda Peete, who happens to be the Granddaughter of the old woman they are waiting to die, Played by Anne Morgan. He begins an affair with Mary that he regrets. Both he and Kate are consumed by guilt, but each with different guilt for different reasons.

Kate and Alex like many parents today are so wrapped up in their own lives that they neglect their daughter who just wants her parents love and attention. There is a scene in the film where Kate tries to give $20.00 dollars to a homeless man and her daughter takes the money and makes her give the man $5.00. She’s so fed up with her Mom not doing anything for her, but always doing for others especially the homeless, that she takes matters into her own hands. She had to remind Kate that she has a responsibility to her. I am giving this movie 3 out of 5 popcorn bags.

The Karate Kid Movie Review

Posted by Crystal Booker on June 11, 2010

It’s Karaterific!! I loved this movie! Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan make an excellent team! This movie is classic “Karate Kid”, but with a new flavor. Jaden Smith plays Dre Parker a kid from Detroit forced to leave everyone he knows and all that is familiar to him. He moves away to Beijing China with his mother Sherry Parker played by Taraji P. Henson due to her being transferred to there for her job. Beijing is foreign to Dre and he feels like a fish out of water. He surveys his new surroundings and decides to explore. He goes to the park where he meets a Chinese girl named Meiying played by Wenwen Han, who becomes his friend. This is also the scene where he meets Cheng played by Zhenwei Wang. Cheng is a bully and he doesn’t like Dre because he is different.

Cheng and his buddies torment Dre to no end. Jaden does such a great job in this film that the scene where he is trying to evade the bullies drew me in so much that I was ready to jump through the screen and protect him. You can feel his fear! I was ready to cheer when Mr. Han played by Jackie Chan shows up and handles the situation. This film grips you and takes you on an exciting journey.

Mr. Han takes him under his wing and the two form this unbreakable bond of teacher, student and then friends.  It is amazing to watch as Dre evolves from this scared kid into the confident “Karate Kid”.  Jaden and Jackie’s acting is so good that you can’t help but feel every emotion they are feeling. It is intense. I really liked this movie for the powerful message it brings, which is to never give up. I am giving it 5 out of 5 popcorn bags.

The A-Team Movie Review

Posted by Crystal Booker on June 11, 2010

This movie is freakin A!  It has action, action and more action. The explosions are huge! Liam Neeson does a good job as Col. Hannibal Smith and Bradley Smith also does a good job as Face. Sharlto Copley totally captures the insanity that is Murdock. The scene where he hangs on the helicopter blade is hilarious.  Quinton “Rampage” Jackson does showcase his acting ability, however the way he portrays B.A. Baracus is a disappointment. It is the total opposite of how Mr. T, who originated the character, portraying him as a tough, strong guy that takes no mess from anyone. Quentin “Rampage” Jackson portrays the character as sort of a weak punk. This is the one thing about this film that I didn’t like.

The only accuracy about BA is his fear of flying. This movie does a good job explaining why he has a fear of flying. Gerald McRaney plays General Morrison and it is good to see him back and acting again. After completing over 80 successful missions and spending 8 years together working as a team The A-Team is about to undertake another mission, but this time they get more than what they planned for. The plates that make US money are stolen and it’s up to the A-team to get them back.

Things don’t go as planned and they are wrongly accused and framed for murder. Their mission then becomes one to clear their names. Jessica Beal plays Charisa Sosa a military agent hot on their trail and one of Face’s ex-girlfriends.  The special effects are dynamite. The action is nonstop and the comedy is hilarious. Overall I liked this movie and the ending will blow you away! It definitely has earned an A! I am giving it 4 out of 5 popcorn bags.
