Having a baby is definitely not what you expect. This film is proof of that! Under the direction of Kirk Jones it takes you on a journey of five couples going through the ups and downs of expecting a baby. Jennifer Lopez plays Holly a woman who cannot have children so she and her husband Alex played by Rodrigo Santoro are adopting a child from Ethiopia. Their story shows how much stress and frustation adoptive parents experience preparing for their new arrival and how hard it can be to bond with a child that biologically isn’t yours. Cameron Diaz  and Matthew Morrison play Jules and Evan. Both are tv stars who fall in love and are expecting. Their story shows how to balance a hectic work schedule and a home life. It also shines the light on the importance of compromise in a relationship. Anna Kendrick and Chace Crawford’s characters are the young ones of the bunch who go through an unplanned pregnancy. Their story is the most surprising because you really want to see them make it against all the odds stacked against them because they are so young.

If you think that pregnancy is all sunshine and roses Wendy played by Elizabeth Banks and Gary Cooper played by ben Falcone will dispell that myth real quick. Their story shows the discomfort of pregnancy. The scene where Wendy speaks at a baby expo is hilarious because she has a total melt down in front of everyone and ends up an internet sensation. A definite must see. Gary’s father Ramsey Cooper played by Denis Quaid is a successful retired Nascar Champion who is married to Skyler a much younger woman that looks like the perfect trophy wife played by Brooklyn Decker. But there is more to this beauty than meets the eye. You can’t help but like her character despite her pregnancy  of twins being perfect.

The support and comic relief of the film is the dudes club headed by Vic played by Chris Rock. This remakable group of guys are bonded by the love of fatherhood. The scene where Chris Rock explains the joy of being a dad is priceless because it does touch the heart. The film gets 4 out of 5 popcorn bags.

This film makes you feel the same pride as “Independence Day!” It definitely makes you proud to be an American! Aliens will think twice before messing with us! Under the direction of Peter Berg this film has something for everyone by way of action, romance and a little bit of humor. Taylor Kitsch is back this time as Navy Lieutenant Alex Hopper whose life was going no where fast until at the urging of his brother Commander Stone Hopper he is forced to join the Navy and get his self together. Brooklyn Decker plays Samantha Shane the woman Alex loves and is also Admiral Shane’s daughter played Liam Neeson. The scene where Smantha and Alex meet is destined to be a classic because Alex gets arrested for breaking into a convenience store just to get Samantha a chicken burrito. He even gets pretty banged up in the process, but in the end as he promised she got her burrito. After that she was hooked and who could blame her.

This film also marks the acting debut of singing sensation Rihanna who plays Petty Officer Cora ‘Weps’ Raikes and she’s not bad. The scene where she punces in the coordintes to for missile launch is very believable because she doesn’t break character and she definitely emerges herself into her character.  You could say she did a good job. The cinematography is beautiful. They really capture the beautiful blue of the ocean.

The special effects in the film are amazing! The costumes and make up for the aliens aren’t that spectacular because they look like a cross between a bull dog, a porcupine and a cat fish, which is different yes, but hideously scary no. You also see some familiar “Tranformers” special effects. The scene where they show the alien ship going into attack mode makes it seem as if it is transforming and you keep expecting some robot to emerge. Overall this is a good and entertaning film with a lot of action but most of all many proud patriotic moments. Thumbs up! It gets 4 out of 5 popcorn bags.

Johnny Depp and director pal Tim Burton have done it again! This film is an absolute morbid delight! It’ a story of lost love and getting one’s life back. If you think your family has issues they are minor compared to the Collins family. This time Johnny plays Barnabas Collins a man who rejects the advances of a witch and ends up cursed as a vampire. Under the direction of Tim Burton all the actors give good performances. It is good to see Michelle Pfeifer back on the big screen. She looks fabulous as Elizabeth Collins Stoddard. The costumes in this film stay real true to the times. Colleen Atwood did a great job on the costumes, and 1972 has never looked so chic. Chloe Grace Moretz plays Carolyn Stoddard Elizabeth’s daughter who has quite an amazing secret. No Tim Burton film would be complete witout his wife Helena Bonham Carter who plays Dr. Hoffman a drunken psychiatrist. Bella Heathcote plays the love interest of Barnabas in a duel role Josette Dupres and Victoria Winters.

Since this is a Tim Burton film you know the special effects are going to be creative and very entertaining. This film is no exception. The special effects are so well done that you forget you are watching a movie because they seem so real. The scene where Barnabas plunges off the cliff to his death is thrilling because you really think he lands on the rocks below. The scene where Josette’s ghost is wondering the house is neat because she walks through walls.

Hell hath no fury than a woman scorned! This couldn’t be more true when it comes to Angelique Bouchard played by Eva Green. She’s the witch who falls in love with Barnabas and wants nothing more than to have him return her love. So she curses him and sets out to destroy him and all he loves. This film is destined to be a classic!  It gets 4 out of 5 popcorn bags.

Marvelicious! Avengerific! This film has something for everyone! It is refreshing to see a movie that is exciting to watch and very well made. Under the direction of Joss Whedon who also was one of the writers of the film the cast deliver good performances. Samuel L. Jackson as always commands the screen as Nick Fury the head of S.H.I.E.L.D who brings the Avengers together. Mark Ruffalo plays Bruce Banner the tortured Doctor who transforms into The Hulk once provoked. He does a good job capturing his solitude. You almost feel sorry for him because he doesn’t want to hurt anyone which is why he stays away from people if he can help it. Chris Hemsworth is great eye candy as Thor for the ladies and Chris Evans is equally dashing as Captain America. Scarlett Johanssen is a no nonsense kick ass kind of chic as Black Widow. Jeremy Renner joins the cast As Hawkeye who is always spot on with his bow and arrows. To round out this wonderful cast of heroes is none other than Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark who is also Iron Man. It is good to see his relationship with his assistant Pepper Pots played by Gweneth Paltrow has blossomed into mutual love. The chemistry between these two is hot! The scene where he kisses her is awesome because he kisses her with such passion.

The special effects are awesome! The use of the 3D effect begins immediately. It truly enhances the film making it larger than life on the screen as if you could reach out and touch them. The battle scenes where the aliens descend through the portal is thrilling! They fly through the air so fast and their makeup is hideous really capturing the evil of the aliens. Their leader is Thor’s Brother Loki played by Tom Hiddleston who is jealous of Thor and drunk with power.

This film was defintely worth the wait and lives up to all the hype. Everyone will enjoy this film. There definitely will be more Avenger films in the future. It gets 5 out of 5 popcorn bags.

This film makes you want to rush out and buy the book written by Steve Harvey that this flm is based on. The book links these characters together because everyone in the film reads the book and follows Steve’s advice fom the book. The film follows the relationships of several characters. Mya played by Meagan Good is a character that most single females can relate. She wants to be in a relationship but all she seems to meet are guys who only want sex and nothing more. She meets Zeke who is a lady’s man played by Romany Malco and the two begin to date and eventually do fall in love. The next couple to meet and fall in love is Candice a single mother played by Regina Hall and Michael a mama’s boy played by Terrence J. Her best friend is Lauren a successful business woman played by Taraji P. Henson who meets Dominic a bus boy played by Michael Ealy. He is the opposite of what she wants in a man, but the two do fall for each other.

Kevin Heart plays Cedric the happy divorcee. He does a great job providing the comic relief in the film. All the actors give good performances in the film. It takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions because we can relate to the characters and the different relationship situations they go through. You wll laugh, but you definitely will cry.

The best part about this film is watching the couples fall in love and seeing Steve Harvey sharing his wisdom in every situation making it educational as well. This truly is a remarkable film because it makes sense, flows well and stays true to Steve Harvey’s book proving why the book is a best seller. It gets 4 out of 5 popcorn bags. Everyone should see this film!

Kids can be cruel takes on a whole new meaning! This is a very powerful and very eye opening film. It will take you on an emotional roller coaster. The kids in the film will touch your heart with their stories of enduring the hardships and cruelty of bullying, however you also meet the parents of some kids who committed suicide as a result of bullying. The funeral scene will break your heart because the boy committed suicide because he was being bullied. The mother is so distraught. You can see the hurt and anguish she is feeling for losing her son. All of their stories will break your heart because you can see how the anguish of bullying has affected hem and heir families.

It is remarkable how well some of them are coping while trying to keep an optimistic outlook. It’ astonishing just how cruel people can be. The most surprising story is about a boy named Alex. He is so loving, but he is different due to being born premature. The other kids torture him and the school does nothing about it. The sscene were Alex is on the school bus and the other kids are physically hurting and threatening him. They even go so far as to threaten to slit his throat! It is heart breaking because he thinks those boys are his friends. He wants so much to fit in and make friends that he is willing to endure the torture. It makes you want to jump through the screen and give him a hug. It’s so so sad!

Another story that ill touch you is about a girl named Kelby. She is an inspiration because she is a symbol of hope. All she wants is to be accepted for who she is not what she is. Kelby is a Lesbian and as a result she is persecuted by both her classmates but most surprising her teachers. This film should be seen by everyone especially parents should see it with their kids. It gets 5 out of 5 popcorn bags.

A film of epic proportions! Much better than the first! Sam Worthington is back as Perseus! The Gods are in trouble and once again Perseus must come to their rescue. Liam Neeson also returns as Zeus King of the Gods and the father of both Perseus and Aries God of War played by Edgar Ramirez who is jealous of Perseus and Zeus’s relationship. The scene where he strikes Zeus with his hammer really shows his intense hatred for his father. The way he can inflict pain on him with no feelings of remorse is definitely a parent’s nightmare. Ralph Fiennes reprises his role as Hades God of the Underworld who surprisingly is not the true villain.

   One thing the film really focuses on is the relationships of fathers and sons. Zeus and Perseus have a relationship even though they live in two different worlds. Perseus is now a single father raising his son Helius played by John Bell as a fisherman and not as a God. He loves his son more than anything and you can see the love in his eyes everytime he looks at his son. You can also see that same love in Zeus when he sees Perseus.

A new character in the film is Argenor played by Toby Kebbell who is the estranged Son of Poseidon played by Danny Huston. The special effects of the film are spectacular! Although the 3D effect doesn’t make or break it. The scene where Perseus is flying on Pegasus really does give you the feeling that you are flying too.

The scene where Kronos the evil father of Zeus and Hades is set free really shows the 3D effect because each destructive blow looks like he is aiming right at you. The cinematography really captures the beauty of the land and sea. The flying scenes are beautiful.

 This film is definitely better than the first. It really fouses on the importance of family and love between fathers and sons and the relationships between brothers. It deserves 4 out of 5 popcorn bags.

The Hunger Games leaves you hungry for more! This much anticipated film is definitely worth the wait! Based on the book series by Suzanne Collins the film stays true to the book. Katniss Everdeen played by Jennifer Lawrence volunteers to take the place of her young sister in an annual life and death competition called the Hunger Games. These games were formed as a punishment and a reminder to the people not to challenge their government. One young male and female from each district is chosen to serve as Tribute in a drawing to represent their district and compete to the death. To the victor go the spoils and the loser does not survive. It is a very intense competition. The scene where the games begin and the Tributes are running for their lives to get to their supplies shows just how brutal the games are because many Tributes are slaughtered by their fellow Tributes. It is because of this brutality that children under 12 years of age should not see this film without parental guidance.

The costumes are full of color like a trip back in time to the 80′s but with futuristic flair. The scene where the tributes enter the arena in a parade is spctacular because Katniss and Peta played by Josh Hutcherson have costumes lit on fire by Cinna their stylist in the games played by Lenny Kravitz. It is thrilling to watch them parade in. The special effects are amazing! The cinematagraphy is also equally good. It really captures the beauty of the forest and the grandness of the arena.

It is good to see Donald Sutherland on the big screen as President Snow. Stanley Tucci is fun to watch as Caesar Flickerman the talk show host who interviews the Tributes. This film is thrilling and very intense! It will keep you on the edge of your seat on an emotional rollercoaster. It gets 5 out of 5 popcorn bags.

At first glance this film seems like another movie about a slacker going no where in life still living with his parents. Jason Segal plays Jeff a guy who enjoys smoking pot and thinking about ones purpose in life. Ed Helms plays Jeff’s older brother Pat whose marriage to Linda played by Judy Greer is falling apart and Susan Sarandon plays Sharon their mother who is a widow ready to meet someone new. The cast is very strong and deliver good performances. The plot of the film is that Jeff was high when he receives a phone call that to all of us would be dismissed as a wrong number, but to Jeff everything happens for a reason and this phone call was no different. The caller asks for someone named Kevin, so Jeff goes out in search of someone named Kevin. The first Kevin played by Evan Ross seems cool until he gets Jeff mugged. Next Jeff finds another Kevin but only after he tries to help his brother determine if his wife is cheating on him.

Next he finds another Kevin. This one sells candy in vending machines. There are some aspects of the film that don’t seem to make much sense like the scene where Jeff wonders around looking for Kevin.  The twist in the film will bring everything together and make it understandable.  In the end they all discover just how much the love and acceptance of our loved ones do matter.

Over all the  film wasn’t bad. It was very funny as well. Jason Segal and Ed Helms make a good team. It is for this reason the film gets 4 out of 5 popcorn bags.

Disney’s long anticipated $250 million dollar production is definitely a sci-fi fantasy adventure. Based on the 1964 novels chronicling this hero written by Edgar Rice Burroughs who is known for his science fiction works. This lavish production directed by Andrew Stanton stars Taylor Kitsch as John Carter  and Lynn Collins as his Martian lady love Dejah Thoris. In the film John Carter who is a Civil War Calvary Man is transported to Mars or Bazoom as it’s called in the film while searching for a cave of gold. He encounters a strange being in the cave and defends himself against it. Then wakes up on a different planet. t first glance it looks like  dessert, but when he tries to walk he discovers that he has special powers on this planet. He can jump very high as if he could fly. Next he encounters even more strange beings who are fascinated by him and his special abilities. The alien Tars Tarkas voiced by Willem Defoe is one of the first to engage him. He watches as John Carter leaps over large rocks and he is very curious. So, he takes John Carter prisoner and returns with him to his village.

The special effects in the film are amazing especially the scenes where John Carter leaps to the rescue jumping on and over space ships and saves Dejah Thoris from falling. Unfortunately, the 3D effect does nothing for the film. Disney could have released it without it and the film wud have been fine. Dominic West does a god job playing Sab Than who is the villain in the film, who wants to marry Dejah and murder her on their wedding night so he can rule their world.

Kids will like this film an the followers of Edgar Rice Burroughs will be pleased. It gets 3 out of 5 popcorn bags.
