This movie is very interesting. It takes a whole new spin on relationships and getting over exes. Michael Cera plays Scott Pilgrim a 22 year old guy trying to get over a bad break up. His ex-girlfriend Envy Adams played by Brie Larson became a rock star and left Scott for a guitar player in her band. To get over her Scott dates a high school girl named Knives Chau played by Ellen Wong. All of his friends think he’s crazy for doing so especially his roommate Wallace Wells played by Kieran Culkin. I liked his character. It’s good to see Kieran acting again. Then Scott meets Ramona Flowers played by Mary Elizabeth Winsted at a party and he falls for her. He decides to pursue Ramona, but he has no idea what he is in for. In order to date her, a guy has to defeat her seven evil exes. One of whom is played by Chris Evans. The clincher is that some of her evil exes dated her back in grade school. You would think they’d be over her by now, but apparently not. The special effects are different how the movie switches from a video game like mode back to movie mode at will. The sound track is good too. If you love rock music you will love the sound track. Plus the sound track totally fits the movie. Teenagers and kids will love this movie for the special effects and the music. The scenes where Scott battles the evil exes is intense and full of excitement. Each one has a different power that Scott must defeat. You won’t learn any life lessons from this movie, but it is entertaining. I am giving it 3 out of 5 popcorn bags.
